Riesa Dow grew up in Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas before finally calling Colorado home. But really, home could be anywhere in the country with her horses and dogs.

Growing up, Riesa developed strong aptitudes for music, writing, and computers. Computers won professionally, and she gained insights into satellite technology, hazardous waste, environmental concerns, and medicine through her career, while music and writing provided balance.

Riesa inherited her love of writing from an aunt, along with a love of horses. Happily, she never outgrew either. Her aunt, Barbara Fish, solicited Riesa’s help in fulfilling a life-long dream of writing and publishing ‘Francine Inherits a Ghost”, published in 2005 before she died. Barbara’s mantra, ‘You’re never too old to make a dream come true,’ resonated with Riesa, and the seed took hold. To aid her aunt in fulfilling her dream, Riesa enrolled in Gotham Fiction Writing classes and found her new passion.

A brief foray into the realm of screenwriting produced ‘It Just Gets Better,’ which fared well at the Moondance Film Festival Screenplay Competition but helped Riesa realize that screenwriting was not the preferred way she wanted to tell her stories.

Riesa is a member of the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers group.
